The Middle school carpentry class came out again on Saturday to do some valuable trail work in the Little Lake Creek Wilderness. They lopped brush off the Little Lake Creek Trail to the Pole Creek crossing and did some erosion work. I came out after the Steward Meet & Greet to work with them. Great youth workday.
Forgot to add that we heard two Barred Owls hooting back and forth to each other across the trail. Unusual for them to be out on a sunny day.

Spent the day assembling LSHT Primitive Campsite booklets and then hiking out to the old Magnolia Primitive Campsite and the new Mercy Primitive Campsite. The Sam Houston Trails Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to expanding & maintaining the hiking, biking, equestrian, motorized & multi-use trail systems in the Sam Houston National Forest. The coalition has two Texas Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grants for new trail construction, but the coalition must cover 20% of the cost.
